On 17 October, Riga will host the annual Nordic Sectech Summit 2024, the Nordic Security Technology Summit for those working in or interested in the security industry.  The event will include an exchange of experiences between industry professionals, experts and opinion leaders, as well as a security technology exhibition and hands-on workshops in a brand new concept. This year's unifying theme is Human-Centred Safety Design.

The Summit is already recognized as a major event among industry professionals, bringing together industry leaders, leading experts, researchers, policy makers and even future security professionals from several Nordic countries, as it serves as an important platform to discuss the future of security technologies in the human world. During the event, recent advances in security technology are discussed and showcased.

The event is basically organized for anyone who is directly or indirectly involved in physical security, occupational safety, cyber security and other security-related issues on a daily basis, with the aim of sharing valuable and practical information addressing the rapidly changing security challenges, as well as exploring the latest solutions that are directly affected by the human factor.

On the main stage we expect presentations of useful and valuable information from such local speakers as Elviss Strazdiņš (founder of the Digital Security Centre), Agate Ambulte (Head of Liepāja Digital Innovation Park), Kaspars Rožkalns (UPB), etc., as well as presentations from foreign speakers. Experience stories and practical recommendations, as well as panel discussions, during which every visitor will have the opportunity to find answers to any physical or technological security problems in their infrastructure. Answers will be provided by competent speakers.

In the second half of the day, three parallel halls will host hands-on workshops where everyone will be able to participate and actively engage in the process. The main aim of the workshops is to prepare participants to be one step ahead of the bad guys, knowing how to defend themselves against cyber attacks and how to check if the system is secure. At the end of the day, we invite you to take part in networking, accompanied by live music.

Nordic SecTech Summit 2024 is organized in cooperation with Turiba University and the European Union ERASMUS+ project SECUREU* (project number: 2021-1-LV01-KA220-HED-000023056), which promises to become an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Kārlis Apalups, Director of the Academic Master's program "Organization Security Management", Turiba University; Head of the Security Company Group "ZEVS" and lecturer at Nordic SecTech Summit 2024: "The SECUREU project is an example of our commitment to promote security education through international cooperation and innovation. We are delighted to be able to showcase our progress and contribute to the conversation on security technologies at the Summit."

It will focus on the latest developments in cybersecurity, surveillance systems, AI-powered security solutions and much more that are shaping the future of security in general. But the event organisers themselves are looking to further expand their reach and impact, with plans to introduce new experience-sharing modules and strengthen industry partnerships capable of tackling new security challenges.

Entrance to the event is free of charge, but pre-registration is required and please note that places are limited.

The Nordic Sectech Summit organisers invite all security professionals, academics, up-and-coming professionals and other industry representatives to join us in Riga for this important event. Together we can drive the future of security technology and build a safer world.

The SECUREU project, an initiative of the European Union's ERASMUS+ program, aims to improve security education and develop innovative strategies to tackle today's security challenges. Through a multidisciplinary approach, SECUREU aims to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical application in the field of security.
